The way to encourage cycling
Employers who contribute to the monthly leasing rate see their ratings increase. Lease drivers give their employer who only facilitates the bike plan an average score of 8.0. When the employer contributes, this average rises to 8.4.
Of all affiliated companies make a contribution
A monthly employer contribution makes the bike plan financially more attractive and ensures more cyclists.
Cost-neutral contribution:
Due to the temporary reduction in gross wages, the employer is paying less social security charges. This allows you to contribute an average of €25 per month per employee, cost-neutrally, which often forms the basis for the total contribution.
Extra bike stimulation:
That €25 is a fantastic start, but a larger contribution of, say, €30, €50, or €100 really encourages cycling, which is a smart investment in vitality, job satisfaction, and productivity!

No, a contribution is not part of the WKR. This is because the contribution is calculated gross on the payslip.
You can also choose to deduct a net contribution. In that case, the contribution falls within the WKR.
You can include the contribution directly in the company guidelines on the Lease a Bike platform. This way, the contribution is automatically deducted from the monthly payroll export, which you use to process payroll changes for new lease contracts. So there's no extra administration!

Travel allowance
A smart combination makes the difference
Legally, employees are not allowed to receive a net travel allowance for days they commute to work using their lease bike. Losing the travel allowance can make the bike plan less attractive and discourages commuting by lease bike. Moreover, as an employer, you benefit financially from your employee's healthy choices because you do not have to pay the travel allowance anymore. Let's do this a better way.
There are three options to make the travel allowance in combination with the bike plan an attractive option:
Option 1:
Convert the net monthly travel allowance into a gross monthly contribution to the bike plan (most popular choice).
Option 2:
An additional gross bicycle allowance for the days on which employees travel to work by bicycle.
Option 3:
Retaining the net travel allowance via the WKR

Target audience
An attractive arrangement for everyone
More than one in three employees with a lease bike indicate they are likely to stay with their employer longer because they have a lease bike! This is a strong motivation to make the bike plan widely accessible to all employees (except interns, temporary workers, or external employees).
Yes, employees with temporary contracts can also use the bike plan.
If either the employer or the employee decides not to renew the contract, the employee will only pay one lease payment deductible after 12 months to terminate the contract and return the bicycle. This payment is usually deducted from the employee's final salary.
Read the full terms and conditions for early termination here.
Employees with a part-time contract can also take advantage of the bike plan.
For this group of employees, the gross-net benefit may be lower, as they often pay less payroll tax. However, most employees do not choose a lease bike simply for the financial benefit. Recent research shows that 48% of lease drivers cite installment payments as the main reason for choosing a lease bike.
Please note: Employees are not permitted to earn below the minimum wage after deducting the monthly lease costs.

Maximum budget
Freedom of choice as a strength of the bike plan
The average purchase price of a leased bike, at around €3,400, is considerably higher than the average price of a purchased bike, which is around €1,800. This higher price is driven by the popularity of e-bikes, which are chosen by 73% of lease drivers.
Choose an e-bike
Many employees appreciate the freedom of choice within the lease bike plan. Furthermore, employees with an e-bike are willing to cycle longer distances to work! It's wise to keep this in mind when determining the appropriate maximum budget.
That's why many employers often choose a maximum budget of €6,000. This creates freedom of choice and makes all types of e-bikes, including speed pedelecs, electric cargo bikes, and (e-)sports bikes, widely accessible.
You can easily adjust the maximum budget in the company guidelines on the Lease a Bike portal.
